SAFETY AND SECURITY
We at the York Fair and Expo Center wants every visitor to enjoy their experience. Please help us by following our policies and procedures to ensure everyone has a safe enjoyable visit!
Guests must refrain from conduct that is inconsistent with the fun and family atmosphere at the York Fair and Expo Center. Such conduct includes but is not limited to: interfering with other guests’ ability to enjoy an event; using foul or abusive language or gestures; appearing to be in a drunken or diminished capacity; failure to produce a ticket on request or sitting in a seat which is not ticketed; possession of unauthorized items; moshing or crowd surfing; and interfering with an event. Violators are subject to ejection and possible arrest.
The York Fair and Expo Center reserves the right to inspect and search all items and guests entering the York Fairgrounds or any building on the property. Additional security precautions and screening will occur during Grandstand concerts and various other events held upon the Fairgrounds. Guests should be prepared to have all hand carried items open and ready for inspection. Hand carried items include but are not limited to bags and purses that meet the size requirements.
By presenting your ticket and entering our venue you consent to such screenings. Persons who refuse screening will be denied entry into our venues. These protective measures have been put in place to ensure that each performance or experience is occurring in a safe environment for our guests.
The York Fair and Expo Center has implemented the use of walk-through and handheld magnetometers for all guests upon entry. We recommend that guests arrive at least 45 minutes prior to event start time and bring only essential items into the venue.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why are you using metal detectors?
We are constantly evaluating our security policies and procedures to ensure we are fostering a safe environment for our guests that is in line with security standards at venues across the country, and enhanced entry screenings are a part of those procedures.
What can I expect when I arrive for a show, concert, or event?
All guests will be asked to remove certain metal items from their pockets before walking through a metal detector. As you walk through the detector, screening officers will also check any bag you have brought with you for prohibited items. You can view a list of our prohibited items at the top of this page. If the metal detector alarms, you will be asked to check for items you may have forgotten to remove before you entered the metal detector. You will also be asked to go through a secondary screening.
What is your bag policy?
Oversized bags are not allowed unless medically necessary, such as medical devices, diabetic supplies, etc. All bags are subject to search. Please plan to secure luggage, large backpacks, and other oversized items at your home or in your vehicle.
Can I expect a big delay before I will be able to enter the venue?
We are working hard to ensure that our entrance screening procedures are fast and effective. While we do not believe these machines will cause a significant delay, we do encourage you to arrive early to your scheduled show or performance to ensure you have plenty of time to arrive, go through screening, find your seats and enjoy the opening act or preshow entertainment. You can help us make this process faster and more efficient by minimizing the items that you bring with you to the show.
Are metal detectors safe to walk through?
Yes, these types of machines are regarded as safe to walk through. The electromagnetic field these devices emit is weak and comparable to the field emitted by the Earth. However, if you are not comfortable with this screening at any point, you can request a hand wand or pat down screening.
Will the walk-through metal detector disrupt my pacemaker?
These machines comply with medical standards and as such, the risk of disruption is negligible. However, if you are not comfortable with this screening at any point, you can request a hand wand or pat down screening.
I have a metal implant. Will that set off the metal detector?
There may be times when you are asked to go through a secondary screening due to a medical implant.
Can I bring in a wheelchair?
Of course! Guests who are unable to walk through the metal detector, including guests in wheelchairs, will be screened at the ADA entrance with our secondary screening methods.
Does my child need to be screened?
Everyone entering the venue must be screened. Infants and toddlers who are unable to walk through the machines on their own may be carried through by a parent or guardian.
Can I leave a grandstand concert and return?
Once you enter the venue, you may not leave and re-enter.
I have a concealed carry permit. Can I bring my gun?
No, all firearms are strictly prohibited inside the concert or show venue. Law Enforcement officers should report to the screening area supervisor for assistance.
What happens if I accidentally bring a gun, knife, or another prohibited item with me?
You will be asked to return that item to a secure location in your vehicle or off venue property. You will also have the option to surrender that item to our security officers. Surrendered items will not be returned to guests. We are not responsible for ensuring the safekeeping of any prohibited item.
